Time:11:00 pm.
Reasons my my weekend with Paige in NY was kick ass:

- Unexpectedly getting to see Rent (for half price!) - AND in front row mezzanine seats
- Being at the bar with the entire cast afterwards
- "Oh...you're just a little baby! A little baby!"
- Martini's = drunk
- $16 deli sandwiches
- "Um...are you in line? Are you going to move up there?"
- JERRY ORBACH! (See...I remembered his name)
- The screaming youngster on the train on the way home
- Starbucks...everywhere...
- Paige's power suit
- Paige forgetting her debit card in Ithaca - so it was like one weekend-long date :-)
- Getting to the train station just in time to see the train pulling away
- "Do you like live comedy?" "No not today." "Watch out...she could punch me!"
- "How much is a vodka tonic?" "$7" "That's too expensive." "Oh yeah?! Well they're NINE bucks next door!!"
- Figuring out a way to make the window shade stay up
- Staying on the 25th floor of the hotel
- A $50 cheaper hotel bill - just for complaining
- The waiter in the hotel bar keeping the kitchen open late just for us and our molten chocolate cake and tomato mozarella salad

I think that's it...oh yeah...
- a little thing called a JOB OFFER! Hooray for PAIGE! :-D

I think Coke is lying to me. The bottle tells me that 1 in 12 wins a free Coke. I drink at least one bottle of Coke on campus every day and I have YET to win a free Coke. How is that even possible?

  • The laughing lady at the comedian
  • "Pleasure"
  • Sunburn - from the one day there actually was sun
  • Spiking drinks from the Coke cups
  • Rob falling off the top bunk
  • My ridiculous beach hat
  • The chocolate buffet (hey...it was memorable to ME)
  • Dancing under the stars
  • "And for my entrees, I'll have..."
  • Holly giving us (and the lady behind us) a show in the hallway
  • Our very Canadian cruise director
  • The sprinkler and lasso while singing Kareoke
  • Eating pie on a stick

...I know I must be missing some...Paige, Rob, and Hol - let me know if there's more to add ;)

...stay tuned for pics from the trip up on my WebShots ASAP!!

Time:4:29 pm.
Mood: chipper.
So you want to hear how utterly nerdy life is?

Here's an email I got today:
Hi All,

ITS has been working on developing 4 public access computer kiosks which will give Ithaca College students, employees, and visitors to the
campus a way of getting to the Internet. The first kiosk we put in place is located in Egbert Hall next to the Information Desk. We have not given the kiosk any sort of distinct label or sign to identify what the kiosk is for. Just labeling the kiosk as a Internet kiosk seemed pretty bland, so we felt this would be great opportunity to use the creative minds of ITS, both full-time and student staff, to help us come up with a name, with or without a logo, that you feel would best identify the kiosk.

You will need to email me your your idea no later than the end of the business day on Friday, February 25th. The winning judges will be Mike Taves, Wendy Pearle and myself.. We will be offering lunch for two at the Tower Club for the individual whose suggestion is picked as the name ITS will use to identify the Internet kiosks.

Thanks in advance to all that participate.

And the thing is, I seriously want to win the dinner for two - the Tower Club is super good. Anyone have any ideas for a good name? (haha...don't worry I laughed writing that question...just as you laughed reading it). If the name you gives me wins, I'll take you to the dinner with me (and by "take you" I mean "think of you while I'm sipping wine and sampling from the dessert cart").

Haha...seriously...a contest for naming an internet kiosk...haha...

...but seroiusly...i really want to win...

Time:3:59 pm.
Mood: mellow.
I think one of the worst conversation opportunities ever is one where you meet an obscure acquaintance somewhere unexpected with no visible escape route. Usually, you can just pull the "I have to get to class" line, but in this case there is no end in sight. Case in point:

I was just at the bookstore and got in line at the exact same time as a pseudo-friend who I've hung out with a few times like 2 years ago with some of my other friends. And there we were, waiting in line. I did the polite thing and said hi, to which he answered back. And then, he said "So...how's your year been going?" My year? Like, I know I haven't seen you in a while or anything, but what a question to ask! Of course, the following 3 minutes seemed to stretch on for an eternity as I looked pleadingly at the check out lady, practically begging her with my eyes to hurry up and check out the person in front of me. And what happens? The idiot in front of me picked a pen or whatever it was with no price on it. He had to go back to the back of the store and pick out another one, thankfully leaving me just enough time to chat with my good friend.

Oh, awkwardness. Good times.

On a side note, I'm convinced that there are just far to many idiots in this world. Yesterday, while enjoying the freak central NY heat wave of 50 degrees, I was driving back from the mall on rt. 13, which runs right alongside of Lake Cayuga (the middle finger of the finger lakes). Part of the lake (I'm assuming because it's shallower) was still frozen over from the chill of the weeks past. However, about 15 people, probably trying to enjoy the good weather, were walking around on the ice. ON THE FREAKING ICE! It's 50 degrees out, people! I could see from the road that the ice was melting. How dumb are you?! And as Paige would say, spouting social Darwinism, at that point they just deserve to fall in the freaking lake when the ice breaks and drown.

Geez. Freaking idiots.

Mood: sad.
I've been acutely aware for the past week that I can really annoy people. Like I've caught myself mid sentence while in conversation and thought "geez, I would punch me if I wasn't me." And that kind of greatly depresses me. I wonder how long I've been like this, and if those thoughts actually do cross the minds of those I converse with.

Will make a conscious effort in the future to annoy people less... :-/

...and on top of it all I'm feeling pretty lousy (both mentally and physically). *sigh*

Subject:You say it's your birthday...Pt. 2
Time:2:22 pm.
Mood: nostalgic.
Well...alright...brought on by comments from my readers (check it out - I have readers! YAY!) I actually decided to do a top-ten of the year in my life, as expressed through my livejournal. So here it is, folks, the Happy Anniversary Edition of My Life, In Journal Form - Top Ten of the Year in My Life as Expressed in My Journal!
(That title was barely English, let alone coherent)

Here we go (in no particular order):
1. Freaking out about my life (February 1, 2004; February 16, 2004)
2. Valentine's Day weekend of '04 (February 15, 2004)
3. Helping Paige surprise Simon with a trip in from LA (February 23, 2004)
4. SPRING BREAK '04! (March 16, 2004)
5. The worst night EVER...it's ok Rob, we still don't blame you...really...for real... (April 11, 2004)
6. Having my parents turn my room into a guest room before I've even moved out (April 16, 2004)
7. Slope Day '04 - and getting wasted before 1:00 PM (May 2, 2004)
8. Completely ignoring my very eventful 21st birthday on my journal (May 31, 2004)
9. The inaugeration of Team Awesome Bowling (September 27, 2004)
10. Having a Kidney infection and then the health center trying to kill me by giving me drugs I was allergic to (October 29, 2004)
10. Telling the epic tale of Mortimer the Mouse (which actually happened to be Mortimer the Mole) (November 11, 2004; December 2, 2004)
10. Critizing every horrendous Christmas Light Display I ever see (November 29, 2004)
10. Myself and Paige loving Bridget Jones so much that we started talking like her (December 20, 2004)
10. New Years '05...and everything associated with it :-D (January 3, 2005)

...Alright...so I know my "Top 10" is actually 14...but I didn't feel like changing my super cool title and/or cutting stuff out :)

And there you have it...the Top "10"

My Goodness! At midnight tonight, this livejournal will be celebrating its one-year anniversary! And what a year it's been...

And here, since I'm obviously not creative enough to write a good journal entry, I will simply reminisce on some of my favorite events of the past year. Just consider this like a clip show on your favorite sitcom, where you just know the writers are too lazy to write an actual EPISODE, so they just string along a bunch of past ones...Here goes!

...Actually I take it back. That would seriously be the most boring journal entry ever when you could obviously just look back at my previous entries and review my over-exciting life.

Anyway...Happy Birthday, Livejournal. :-D

Right...so this weekend is SERIOUSLY making me consider living somewhere warmer and less prone to blizzards when I finally decide to settle down in my life.

Pushing cars up entire streets only to have them not be able to make it up the driveway in sub-zero temperatures = utterly miserable...

Hm...California here I come...maybe? someday?

Why, when people pass each other a hallway or something, do they say "How are you"? Like, do you really expect a full answer? Even if I'm having the worst day of my life, I almost always answer with "Fine. How are you?" or something.

I think I'm going to try to shake things up by answering "Miserable, thanks for asking." to the question and see what happens.

Time:11:07 am.
Mood: exhausted.
So I'm at work...the first free second I've had in about three days. Awesome. Yesterday I worked for about 10 and a half hours, and today will probably be around the same. Man, I love training new employees. So freaking fun.

Anyway...got back up to Ithaca on Saturday. Yup, during a blinding snowstorm because I'm a complete idiot. I spun my car on the road and ended up in a ditch sideways on the other side of the road. Now there's all sorts of new and colorful lights coming up on my dashboard and the brakes are worse than ever. Needless to say, old Trappy has earned her name and is going into the shop ASAP.

The rest of the week has been fairly uneventful, what with all the work and all the wanting to kill myself because of all the work. I did discover that I left like half of my clothes at home because, again, I'm an idiot. I also left my spankin' new toaster oven at home, which I'm actually really upset about. Especially considering the great Toaster vs. Toaster Oven debate of 2004, in which the toaster ultimately won out and I've had to go toaster oven-less for an entire semester. So unfortunate.

Anyway...I'm sorry if this entry is incoherent and rambling. I'm just really, really tired.

Subject:Bridget Jones, my hero
Time:10:54 pm.
Fans of Bridget Jones will understand this conversation

Paiger0118: also, cannot stop eating cookies
ClubSlackingCapt: also, is talking like bridget jones
ClubSlackingCapt: v.g.
Paiger0118: god. what is the point of living? may as well eat pounds of milk tray (aka, cookies) and live life of recluse, only to read millions of crappy novels and eventually be eaten by alastain
ClubSlackingCapt: only to be discovered by friends weeks later
ClubSlackingCapt: of course
ClubSlackingCapt: and watch "100 hottest hotties" on vh1, a show which i've seen approximately 30-60 times
Paiger0118: except, of course, have no friends here, none at all. brother has expodentially larger quotient of friends than self does
Paiger0118: makes one feel useless and unloved
ClubSlackingCapt: not v.g.
ClubSlackingCapt: thank goodness for IM
ClubSlackingCapt: so that one can talk to long-distance friend who very much loves self
Paiger0118: although, might be worthwhile to point out, that we only talk to a) each other b) our ex-boyfriends c) our current boyfriends on said internet communincation device
Paiger0118: i know, will drink some wine. BRB
ClubSlackingCapt: i freaking love you
Paiger0118: haha, i freaking love YOU
Paiger0118: also would like to point out that had very strange dream last night
ClubSlackingCapt: hm...only alcohol in house is open bottle of merlot with dust on, bottle of bailey's, and non-alcoholic mudslide mix
ClubSlackingCapt: what's this dream?
Paiger0118: involved ex-boyfriends of BOTH the eric and jared variety and simon. and were were sliding down a huge slide together, in great harmony
Paiger0118: think means that all boyfriends will become great friends
Paiger0118: or will have huge orgy
ClubSlackingCapt: or are all gay
Paiger0118: true, may all be gay, which would be unfortunate as would increase number of minutes not had sex by a scary amount
Paiger0118: also,t hikn you should drink the baileys
Paiger0118: in shot form
Paiger0118: cannot believe that is all the alcohol in your house. you seriously need to come here to visit....
ClubSlackingCapt: yes! or make "Mer-baileys slide"
ClubSlackingCapt: i seriously do
Paiger0118: i am sending this conversation to holly. is funny
ClubSlackingCapt: is v.g.
ClubSlackingCapt: am very pleased with self for amusing conversation with best friend
Paiger0118: is sad though, that best, most intereseting moment of week has been odd, bridget-jones'esque conversation
Paiger0118: maybe need new diversin
Paiger0118: like....SATELLITE RADIO
ClubSlackingCapt: yes! is good to have new interests in life

Hurrah for us!
